Local SEO is becoming a sought after skill due to the number of new companies launching services that are location based. There are many reasons why you would want to use local SEO but the biggest one is that it helps you tap into markets that are less competitive and highly responsive. You can take advantage of local SEO irrespective of the type of business you run because you will always have customers in your local area. You will be able to grow your company in a new direction while finding better, targeted prospective clients. We will be looking at three excellent local SEO ideas that will help you rank in the area you are targeting for the correct keywords.

When it comes to local SEO, the most effective tip you can get is to put yourself in your customer’s place and start thinking like them. You need to start peeking into your customer’s mind to know how they would approach to search online. So, you have to try and analyze what someone would put into the search box when they are looking for your site or for the products you are selling. Let’s presume that you run a furniture company that offers various types of furniture including tables, cupboards, sofas etc. But what if you specialize in office furniture; will the searcher be able to find you if they search for “table”? Will the match your site and products? No, of course not. An ideal match, though, would be something such as “office computer desk.” You need to avoid broad keywords as much as possible because they might be popular and bring in lots of visitors but they won’t convert. You need to employ less popular keywords that are more targeted but offer a greater chance of you getting a customer. When you’re creating your business profile, you’ll have the ability to customize it with any photos you have of your business or yourself. Try to avoid thinking that no one will read your profile because that isn’t true, and you should put a little thought into what you say on your profile – you know the thing about “first impressions.” So the photos you do upload to your profile will make a difference; so be sure to choose wisely. It’s important to that your photos be genuine and that it’s you and your business. You can take great pics yourself, or you can hire someone to take them. You just need to ensure that they are decent enough. Remember people will look at your profile and form an impression or image about you.

Lastly, but certainly not least, to make it easier to rank in a certain geographical area you should consider hosting your site on a server based in the area. This will earn you SEO points as the search engines will connect the location of your site with the server. So make sure you check your server’s location before you host your site, because it can make a huge difference.

It really all depends on where you are, but if the traffic justifies it then you should use local SEO. If you decide to outsource your local SEO, then do not be patient and request information about their previous clients. The other nice thing about this is it usually doesn’t take a great deal of time to experience exciting results. Always be prepared, and once you start doing local SEO then make sure you business is ready, too. If everything is in place, you will find that this traffic tends to be higher quality.
